The Antiques of George Washington's Mount Vernon

Monday January 10, 2005
While they're getting ready for another big inauguration party in D.C., I thought it might be interesting to think back to our first American president and his home, Mount Vernon. While the home wasn't nearly as large as I thought it would be when I visited a couple of years ago, the entire property was filled with a wealth of learning and Colonial treasures to peruse including the Blue Willow transferware piece shown here. It was amazing to me that they had a small museum on the property containing many items once used by Washington and his family. Even if you don't plan to visit Virginia any time soon, you can still read all about Mount Vernon and the treasures held within.
