Have You Seen the New Antiques Roadshow Web Site?
Sunday July 20, 2008
Antiques Roadshow updated its Web presence recently, and I'm really liking the result. One of my favorite features is a searchable archive of the appraisals aired on the show. I can use it as a valuation guide or just look up a favorite appraisal I remember seeing on the show. Brings back memories of my last visit to an Antiques Roadshow taping, a "road trip" I won't soon forget!Been to an Antiques Roadshow taping? Post a blog comment and share your experience with us.

I have come across a couple of cigarette dispencers.
One is about 9 1/2 in.tall,2 1/4 in.deep,41/2 in.wide. Flowers are engraved all over, front has two large flowers with stems, back has two large like plumes oppisite each other. Stands on four 2 1/8 in. legs. The metal is either pot metal or cast(is heavy). On front of the top is a small key in the middle of a small flower to pull down front of box. When pulled down four small gold shelfs come dowm with cutouts for cigarettes to lay in. Has wind up music box at top above cigarettes, with the words “Thorens Movement
La Matchiche La Petite Tonquinoise,
Made in Switzerland”.
The other container is 7 1/4 in. tall, round, looks like old pitted potmetal but not as heavy. Three small wood balls for feet, when pulled up from top it looks like a flower the way the small cigarette clamps are arranged in a circle, some clamps have paper imatation cigarettes in them, rest are empty. This also has a wind up music box and marking on bottem. Marking looks like a man holding a harp.(I can’t see that well).
