Making sure I get what I pay for ranks high pretty high on my to-do list right now. Unfortunately, scam artists seem to come out of the woodwork when the economy's down so we all need to be extra careful about whom we deal with when transacting online. It's also more important than ever to learn to protect yourself from shady sellers when bidding on eBay.

The FABULOUS & HONEST buyers and sellers are leaving ebay in droves. Thanks to Whitman and Donahoe’s “Disruptive Innovation” scheme, the dishonest buyers AND dishonest sellers have been given free reign!
Here are just a few of the ways ebay’s policies have motivated the BEST users to move to fairer and safer venues:
1) Ebay’s poor customer service
2) the placing of outside on ads on ebay, which take buyers to other sites BEFORE buyers can see the availability on ebay
3) ebay’s outrageous fee increases (Two increases in 2008)
4) hidden bidder IDs (disguising scamming sellers AND buyers, allowing them to continue undetected)
5) buried listings (behind mega sellers with LOWER customer satisfaction)
6) ban on offering to accept paper payments (Paypal/ebay Inc. does NOT get revenues from buyers paying their sellers with paper payments)
7) loss of sellers’ ability to be HONEST on feedback ratings and comments (also disguises scamming bidders to allow them to continue abusing sellers)
9) unreasonably low shipping caps (forcing shipping prices into listing prices increases ebay fees)
10) forced Paypal for the majority of users (ban on all other safer & cheaper methods of payment)
11) Paypal’s (owned by ebay) 21-180 days withholding of users funds at Paypal’s “sole discretion” (paypal/ebay Inc. KEEPS ALL interest made from those funds UNLESS the seller pays more fees for an additional, costly service, BEFORE funds are withheld)
12) mega sellers (now known as “Diamond Sellers”) flooding categories with the free listings ebay is gifting them (burying sellers’ full priced listings)
13) the massive numbers of disputes being found in buyers’ favor (regardless of the issues)
14) the aggressive censoring of ebay’s discussion boards, (suspending posters for reporting truths about ebay)
15) ebay/Paypal’s policies which are now allowing scamming buyers to keep the sellers’ items AND receive refunds (”How To” directions are popping up all over the internet for the scammers who haven’t discovered this for themselves)
16) the restricting sellers from listing, who have been rated WELL ABOVE average by the sellers’ customers
17) Gifting all buyers with ONLY the possibility of receiving “positive” feedback, regardless of whether or not they pay or scam the sellers (allowing them to continue their scams without their next victims seeing their pattern of abuse)
The ONGOING Global ebay Boycott continue!

Wow, that’s some comment for a blog post! I know some dishonest sellers who’ve left eBay because of the feedback changes too, so I guess it works both ways. My personal opinion is that eBay is still a good place to shop, and I do so often. But I also take care so I’m not disappointed with my purchases. It still happens every now and then, but most of the time it’s a seller’s honest mistake and they make it right.
Have two antique coca-cola trays..never been used, wondering how much they would be or if someone is interested in buying them.
Thanks,
