Surrounded by loving family members and adoring friends, there aren't many events that stir more sentiment and emotion than the joining of two hearts as one. At this time of year especially, when thoughts turn to wedding rings, honeymoons and all things romantic, taking a look at the world of wedding collectibles seems to fit right in. After all, you don't have to be a June bride to have A Love Affair with Wedding Collectibles.

I began my wedding cake topper collection several years, and have found it to be one of my most enjoyable collectibles. I have toppers from the 1940’s through the 70’s. Last summer I had a display of some of them at our local library, and I had many compliments and questions about the collection. Sadly I only have a replica of my own topper from 1959–I recall casting it out sometime over the years before I became a collector. Fortunately the marriage is still thriving! I have vintage toppers appropriate for all the major anniversaries. I’m still seeking a few topper couples with the groom in uniform. Some of the toppers have required minor to major restoration but that is part of the fun also. So the hunt goes on…

I plan on getting married next year and was looking for a vintage cake topper. Can you help me find one? Where should I look? We are an older couple- I am 37 and he is 53, so I thought vintage would be classic. Then he is whisking me off to Tahiti, so I can’t eat too much cake!! HA!
