What is "Flashed On" Coloring?

At some point, especially if you like to shop for antique and collectible glassware, you'll likely hear or see the term "flashed on" or "flashed" used in reference to red or cranberry coloring. While it can be attractive and collectible in its own right, it's not the same as true red or cranberry glass made with gold oxide.
