Definition: A utensil for keeping food warm, especially at the table. Usually consists of a large pan with a cover, sometimes raised or footed to provide a spot for a small warming candle underneath.

Also Known As: chafing - the preposition for the word chafen, which means to warm

Examples: Evelyn kept the Swedish meatballs warm in her grandmother's silver chafing dish.
