Definition: a mixture of predominantly oxides applied to ceramic ware which forms an protective moisture-proof coating and often imparts a ornamental lusture

Pronunciation: glaze • (noun)

Also Known As: a transparent or translucent color applied to modify the effect of a painted surface

Examples: Patrick applied a glaze to give the mug he made in pottery class a shiny finish.
