Advertising in 1904
Here's a sampling of vintage advertising from the June 1904 edition of Ladies Home Journal : This Bon Ami, a popular brand of scouring powder for many years, advertisement features patriotic theme often seen at the turn of the 20th century. The familiar face of the black chef is prominent in this ad. Cream of Wheat advertising continues to be sought by collectors of black memorabilia today. Using sex appeal as an advertising medium, a beautiful woman graces this face powder pitch. This ad for Lion Brand Yarns mirrors decorating themes seen in 21st century homes. History repeats itself once again. Many sets of Rogers Bros. flatware have been handed down from generation to generation. Perhaps this is the pattern your great-grandmother used when setting her family's table. Do you think she would have been able to pick out the best brand of soap powder without that diploma?
