Definition: a triangular shaped decorative ornament attached to the top of a piece furniture or clock; may be heavily carved and ornate, or very plain depending on the furniture styling
Pronunciation: ped-uh-mint
Also Known As: a wide gable, usually supported by columns, decorating the facade of a classically designed structure
Examples:
James took care to protect the pediment on the secretary desk as it was moved through the doorway.
